Leave a Legacy Gift by giving an Estate/Planned Gift:

The Aviation Society honors and thanks individuals who have included the Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum (TANHM) in their estate plans. Your legacy gift advances the Tuskegee Airmen's enduring history of inspiring history and making history. While we truly support the wishes of those who prefer to remain anonymous, donors who share their plans continually inspire others to consider estate gifts.

If you have already included TANHM in your will or estate planning gift, we encourage you to notify us. Your willingness to be recognized as a Legacy Society member enables others to understand how they can ensure the sustainability of those who are making it possible. Sharing your plans continually helps us to prepare for the future and honor your intentions.

As a Legacy Society member, you will enjoy:

  • Invitations to special events, luncheons, and programs featuring esteemed speakers, preservationists, and community leaders.

  • Exclusive communications with updates on TANHM's programs, progress, and impact. Opportunities to connect with a community of like-minded supporters who are passionate about making a lasting difference.

  • To learn more or to let us know you have included TANHM in your estate plans, please contact (313) 843-8849 or trudie@tuskegeemuseum.org

Make a gift from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA):

If you are 70½ or older, you may make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) of up to $105,000 per year from your individual retirement account. For married donors, each spouse can make QCDs up to the annual amount from his/her own IRA. A QCD allows you to support TANHM by reducing your taxable income while making a meaningful impact. For donors aged 73 and older, these contributions can also count toward your Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).

IRA-Funded Life Income Gifts:

You may also be eligible to make a one-time gift of up to $53,000 from your IRA to establish a charitable remainder trust (CRT) or charitable gift annuity (CGA). For married donors, each can make this gift from his/her individual IRA. For more information on how to set this up for your individual situation, please contact Lola Rushin at (313) 843-8849 or lrushin@tuskegeemuseum.org.

Make a gift with a Gift of Stock:

Stocks, mutual funds, and bonds are assets some donors consider gifting. Directly transferring appreciated assets will eliminate any capital gains tax on the stock transferred and allow you to take a charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market deduction for the value of your gift. To learn more, please contact (313) 843-8849 or trudie@tuskegeemuseum.org.

Other Deferred Giving Opportunities:

Deferred Giving

Bequest Intentions

Many of the Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum's (TANHM) past achievements have been made possible by legacies from friends. Your will or trust could help shape TANHM's successes in the future.

Retirement Assets

Retirement accounts such as IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, other employer-sponsored plans, and financial accounts can be powerful tools for legacy giving. Naming the Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum (TANHM) as a beneficiary can be a simple and tax-efficient way to make a lasting impact.

Life Insurance

Life insurance is often overlooked as an asset that you can use to make gifts to the Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum (TANHM). You may wish to make the museum the beneficiary of a policy and support TANHM programs with an insurance-related gift.

Real Estate and Other Non-cash Assets

Gifts of real estate, business interests, or other non-cash assets can provide significant tax benefits while supporting the mission of TANHM. These planned gifts allow you to make a meaningful impact without affecting your current cash flow.

Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA)

A Charitable Gift Annuity is a simple way to support TANHM while receiving a steady income for life. You make a gift of cash or appreciated assets, and in return, you receive fixed payments, part of which may be tax-free. The remaining value of your gift will support TANHM. A CGA also provides an immediate tax deduction and can help supplement your retirement income.

Charitable Remainder Trust

A charitable remainder trust (CRT) is a life-income arrangement that provides you and/or other beneficiaries with a stream of income for life or years. After the trust ends, the remaining assets are directed to support the Tuskegee Airmen National Museum and Flight Academy. It's a flexible way to meet personal financial goals while making a lasting impact.
